This is something of a controversial one, because the farmhouse kitchen trend is still hugely popular. The contemporary but relaxed and homely farmhouse style combines a rustic feel with soft colour schemes and modern appliances, which works well in almost any type of home.
However, some trendsetters feel that this particular fashion is a victim of its own success, with the very ubiquity of the farmhouse kitchen being its downfall. Google searches for the term are down, and those who want a cutting edge kitchen may have moved on.
According to Good Housekeeping, homeowners who are bored of their all white kitchen, but don’t want the hassle of installing an entire new design will be painting their kitchen islands with more cheerful shades, such as blue, yellow, or even red. This makes sense, as it is the central feature of the room and the colour can dictate the whole mood.
Another big trend will be the marble slab splashback, according to the publication. The herringbone and subway tiles that have been so popular over the past few years are starting to look a little dated, with natural stone slabs coming back into favour. Marble will be especially popular, thanks to the beautiful veined patterns and subtle changes of tone.
