Redecorating a small bathroom comes with its challenges, as it is hard to put your stamp on such a confined space. However, you can still have bold colours, a stylish suite, and exciting tiles.
Some people believe that you should choose small tiles for small bathrooms because big ones will draw attention to the size of the room. What’s more, you will have to cut large tiles down to size to fit around edges and corners, which can waste a lot of time.
On the other hand, some people think only having small tiles in a small bathroom is a myth.
Real Homes said: “There is a risk smaller tiles might be too busy in a small bathroom.”
Instead, Homes And Gardens suggests tiling from floor-to-ceiling with larger tiles, as this will reduce the amount of grout lines that are visible, making it look seamless, and potentially, bigger.
Alternatively, the article suggested that daintier tiles could be used for smaller spaces, such as between the basin and mirror as these “provide decorative focus”.
Fitting a statement floor with bold-coloured or patterned tiles is a good idea in small bathrooms, as it allows homeowners to create a design feature without making the room look busy and overcrowded.
If you prefer to stick with decorative wall tiles, why not opt for just one wall or a splashback behind the sink and keep the rest of the tiles a more neutral colour?
