With so many stresses in life surrounding stories of war, an economic crisis and even the first change in the Monarchy for 70 years, many people will appreciate having their own quiet space to go to.
The bathroom can often be that place, provided it is set up to offer an oasis of calm and serenity. That means it is important to think about this issue when redecorating it, not east when it comes to the tiles.
A key reason for this is that because they are all over the walls and not just in one part of the bathroom like other fixtures and fittings such as the bath and sink, the tiles set the tone for the décor.
Speaking on this topic to the Glasgow Times, Claire Logan of Arran Sense said: “Think calming scents, luxe accessories and soothing colour tones – within the comfort of your own home.”
She added: “Neutrals, pale blues and serene greens are known to promote a soothing atmosphere,” adding that for an organic look, people should consider using ”earthy browns, soft greys and sage greens”.
These colours won’t just apply to tiles, of course, but it may be a very good idea to think first of tiles and other permanent fitting when choosing the décor, since other items, such as bathroom floor mats, are easier to change.
When it comes to choosing a nice neutral colour for your bathroom, those keen to follow a bit of fashion might just go for Wild Wonder, a warm mix of yellow and green that has been chosen by Dulux as its colour of the year for 2023.
That doesn’t mean you will need to replace the tiles a year from now to fit with whatever Dulux chooses for 2024, of course. By picking a colour scheme now or something close to it that creates a sense of warmth, peace and relaxation in your bathroom, you can establish an environment that you will enjoy for many years to come.
