Go Bold With Bathroom Floor Or Wall?

October 12, 2022

When it comes to decorating a bathroom, it can really add character to the design if you choose a bold, colourful tile. However, you should decide whether you want the floor to come to life, or the wall.

When choosing bathroom tiles, lots of homeowners immediately turn their attention to the wall first, as it is the first thing people see when they enter the room. It can also be the place that creates the theme, colour, or style of the room, which is why a lot of thought often goes into how the walls are decorated.

Woman and Home suggested using brightly-coloured tiles as a way of zoning the bathroom, while also noting that deep blue tiles “could make for a beautiful feature wall” this year.

While many people might be tempted to keep small bathrooms white to make them appear bigger, this could be a mistake.Homes and Gardens said powder rooms offer the chance to be playful with patterned tiles or wallpaper.

“Introducing playful additions … will add an element of surprise and unexpected intrigue,” it added.

The alternative to having a colourful bathroom wall is to be bold with your flooring choice. While white tiles, wooden flooring or stone are always going to be popular, the trend for 2022 is to be braver with your floor choice and opt for patterned tiles.

House Beautiful recommended graphic ceramic tiles, while mosaic tiles are always popular. Art deco, Mediterranean, Moroccan, hexagonal, and marble tiles are also good choices.
